The European Coordination Committee on Veterinary Training (ECCVT) warmly acknowledges the exceptional response of 109 replies coming from educational establishments, veterinary associations, and individual veterinarians across Europe to the recent public consultation on the Commission Delegated Directive amending Directive 2005/36/EC as amended by Directive 2013/55/EU, concerning the minimum training requirements for veterinary professionals.
The Committee was glad to see the new Delegated Act adopted, amending the ‘Minimum Training Requirements for the Profession of Veterinarian‘ (Directive 2005/36/EC). The new Act will better align the needed training requirements, by including, amongst others, references to One Health, biosecurity, new technologies and preventive medicine. Nevertheless, ECCVT expressed its disappointment that the Directive still does not recognise the accreditation system and that the Annex was not updated.
ECCVT expresses deep appreciation to all contributors who responded to the consultation using
the coordinated feedback document. This collective action highlights our profession’s
commitment to excellence and proactive collaboration.
